WEEKLY OBSESSION

Needless to say, suede for spring is happening.

The soft and delicate fabric is making a comeback, just in time to accompany the seventies arrival at the fashion scene. What makes this trend even more attractive to invest in is that the fabric can be worn year-round and it has already become season-less. I’m craving the tonal palette in the crème color, as seen on the runway at Loewe and Gucci, but this spring you can find suede in every color and silhouette that you can imagine.

PIECES AND PLACES

One of my favorite brands at the moment just launched a new project.

Loewe, known for their delicious leather goods, has made 50 unique leather bowls in various sizes. Loewe’s creative director, Jonathan Anderson joined efforts with the Spanish leather craftsman José Luis Bazán for The Bowls Project. Together they have reinterpreted Lucie Rie’s iconic pottery forms (one of the 20th century’s most famous potters) in a new context and unexpected material, using forms and color palette.

The Bowls Project is a way of exploring new forms and unrevealed facets of leather – showing us how leather can be both functional and decorative at the same time. The bowls are all made from leather, which have been put in water, modeled and then hardened. Every dish is a small piece of art with the letter J for Jonathan and Loewe’s anagram logo at the bottom. I wouldn’t mind having one of each at my new office.

The Bowls Project will be exhibited in Loewe stores in Madrid (4th – 15th May), and then in Milan, Paris, Tokyo and Beijing.

Well it’s actually not that new anymore as I bought this stunning line clutch from Loewe, when I was in Paris for fashion week – just didn’t share it with you guys. As you know I’m a huge fan of Jonathan Anderson’s work for Loewe, so after spending hours in the store I decided to go for this more timeless and minimalistic clutch from him – I love the golden logo detail together with the toned down linen material.
